Among the founders of therapeutic and sports masage in our country should be mentioned A. E. Shcherbakov, F. A. Werbowy, J. M. Sarkizova-Serazini, etc.

Nowadays masage is applied in virtually all medical and health institutions. The technique of masage and self-masage, built with the clinico-physiological, not anatomical and topographical principles, is an effective means of treatment, recovery, relieve fatigue, and more importantly, serves to warn and prevent various diseases.

Masage (from the French. masage, maser – grind, from Arab. mas – to touch, to feel) is a therapeutic method consisting in dosage mechanical and reflex effects on tisues and organs of the body, by the hand of a maseur or a special device.
